Holidays have been going all right I suppose; I can't remember the weather having ever been this terrible, even at this time of year, but the weathermen on the telly are all blaming global warming and air pollution and anything else they can think of. I suppose they need something to blame, after all. Dad was pretty worried about how things were going at school, but I think I managed to convince him that everything's been all right, even though it's not. My aunt and uncle gave me a wizard's wireless and I've been trying to keep up with the news, but it's awfully depressing most of the time.

But the most important thing is this: Fred and George owled me this morning. They said there was something important they wanted to discuss, and since Dad was out for the afternoon (he always gets restless when the university's not in session, and it's not as though he ever really stops working for long anyway) they apparated over to talk. There's going to be a raid on Azkaban, to break out all of the muggles and suspected "traitors" the Death Eaters are holding there. The Order sounds like they can use all the help they can get - they wouldn't let anyone our age near the actual prison of course, but there are going to be a number of Portkey waystations to get prisoners out in groups as fast as possible, and they'll let us help with those.

So I'm going to help man one of the waystations. If any of you can get away to help, I know the Order would be grateful. It should be pretty safe - we'd just be rounding up people and making sure they get on their way, kind of like traffic control. We'll be out of the line of fire, and the Death Eaters won't know where they waystations are.

The twins said we could all meet at the Burrow the day of the raid, so if your parents need to know where you're going you can tell them where to check in. Don't talk about this to anyone you don't have to - the fewer people who know, the less chance there is that the Death Eaters could find out.

Hey guys, since [livejournal.com profile] beater_serpens and I have decided to get this thing back up and started again, there's a few things that we need to address.

First of all, hooray for finally finishing up the Dean Thomas Escape log! Unfortunately that took so long that we're kind of off time, so here's how it's gonna work from now on:

We're not going to be keeping close to dates anymore, because I've realized that any major logs will probably run over how fast time flies in real life. It's not like we're being terribly accurate with Snogs entries anyways. If you guys want to date them, feel free! If you don't, that's okay. As time passes in the Snogs!HP-verse, I will be making announcements like, "IT'S JANUARY" and all January-ish things can happen. The ability to manipulate time is pretty awesome like that.

As of the last Hogsmeade trip, Kahvi is now officially part of the Chamber of Snogs fold. The story is that after witnessing Kahvi's help with Dean's flight, Alison and Ora had a chat with Lysienne and Leah, and they all agreed to share the secret. That means that Kahvi has access to the room, a diary to write in, and knows about the Extendable Ear planted in Snape's office. Yaaaay!

So here's the last bit of what we have to take care of in the month of December:
THE AZKABAN RAID

Death Eaters are holding both Muggles and suspected traitors in Azkaban. The Order of the Phoenix intends a rescue and needs some help. Fred and George Weasley find out, who recruit Alison, and Alison recruits the rest of us. The situation doesn't get too out of hand (since we are just students after all), but we are assigned to guard a Portkey waystation. Excitement ensues.

That'll be a long tag, so it'll be a while until it's up. Until then, I think there might be pre-winter holiday exams to worry about, we have Kahvi as a member of Snogs, and well, it's Christmas?

Let's get this thing started again!

I just wish there were a way to keep an eye on things... I don't know how the Order does it on the large scale. )
[identity profile] beater-serpens.livejournal.com
As if things weren't different enough, the holidays were a pretty good reminder. Christmas with Dad was all right - that was the same as it's ever been, at least, but I left for the Burrow on the 26th.

Ron was there. He apparently had a fight with Potter and Granger and left them - he's actually pretty upset about it, even if his mother was rather glad to know he's all right. But even he doesn't know where his friends are anymore - just that they were alive when he left them, and that he hasn't been able to find them since.

I never would've thought anything could've broken those three up. Whatever it was, I hope they get over it soon. I don't think I'd want to be Potter, right now, going through all of this with only one friend instead of two. Ron better get off his arse and find them before the Dark Lord does.

I'm due to go back to see Dad for a few more days before the Hogwarts Express departs. I feel like I don't have enough time - I want to see Dad, but I want to see the twins, and every time I see one I feel like I'm neglecting the other. And then I can't help but think, what if it's the last chance I ever get? Ugh, I need to stop thinking like this. Things can't get much worse before they get better. Right? Starting with the weather would be nice.

Oh! But there is a bit of good news - the twins came up with this brilliant idea that I have to tell you all about. It might be just what the Order needs to keep any more nasty surprises from happening. I'll tell you all about it when we get on the train.

[OOC: Said brilliant idea is the Death Eater version of the Marauder's Map (log forthcoming). I'm assuming they can have a conversation about it on the train on the way back to school.]

Argh, there has been so much going on this past couple of weeks I'm amazed its December already and Ali-chan and I have been sort of failing at being good mods. Oh well.

At any rate, the big event of the end of the year is going to be our last Hogsmeade trip! It is going to take place in a free-post log format (that is, there is no order to whoever posts, just post if you feel it's warranted, since several things will be happening in different places), and hopefully will tide just over until Christmas break wherein we'll have journal posts again.

At any rate, the following things will be happening at Hogsmeade:

- Neville, Luna, and Ginny will not be present. They are still serving detention with Professor Snape, after being paraded around the Dark Arts classes for the past two weeks.
- The group of students will be closely monitored when outside of any Hogsmeade buildings, by the Head Boy/Girl, Prefects, Filch, the Carrows, and their specially appointed minions (read: Draco, Crabbe, Goyle).
- Alison and Ora having a short meeting at the Hog's Head to pass information onto the Weasley Twins. There, the plan to create a Death Eater Marauder's Map is hatched, as well as information regarding the location of Muggle-borns detained indefinitely.
- Towards the end of the day, Dean Thomas will make a run for it, trying to reach any point outside the anti-Apparition wards surrounding Hogsmeade and Hogwarts. He will make his way down the main street and turn right after Dervish and Banges, at which point he will be noticed. Filch and the Slytherins will try to stop him, and it will be our job to hinder them in various ways.

Not much will happen the rest of December over the holidays except:

- Kahvi, after we see her help Dean escape, will be invited to join us in the Chamber of Snogs. The more people we can trust, the better.
- Luna Lovegood is abducted. I can't remember whether this happens while she is getting on the train at Hogsmeade station or getting off at King's Cross (or somewhere in between), but it's definitely noteworthy.
- There will be an Order raid on Azkaban, where some Muggle-borns are being detained. Everyone is invited to be a part of it, unfortunately our part will be limited (given that we are just students) and we will only be holding our ground at one of several Portkey locations, where Portkeys are waiting to take Muggle-born refugees to safehouses.
- Please also remember to note in your holiday logs about: Snatchers, curfew, a large number of missing Muggles in the Muggle news, and the general dreary and dreadful weather.

The Hogsmeade log will hopefully start in a couple of days when I have time to kick it off. :D

I think this is the worst day of classes I've ever had to sit through. Seeing Neville, Luna, and Ginny paraded through Dark Arts class in the condition they're in is by far the worst thing I have ever had to endure so far this year, and that includes all of Muggle Carrow's screeching.

It's nice to know that almost all the class failed to cast both the Cruciatus and Imperius curses successfully, but it's not good news that those who do manage it competently are the cruelest Slytherins that I absolutely hate. Ugh. (I guess it's not good news either that Draco makes both those spells look easy.)

Alison and I also failed at both the curses today, and I have to say that's the first time I've not been able to cast a spell and been thankful for it. Carrow says that we have until tomorrow to do it well or he'll drop us down a mark. I wonder if it's possible to cast a spell while speaking the incantation of another, because that's the only solution I can think of to keep my marks up while not hurting my friends.
[identity profile] beater-serpens.livejournal.com
Well, that certainly went a whole lot less well than expected. All the preparations went just fine, but I suppose that had to mean something had to go wrong in the execution. I suppose that's what we get for trying to determine how the professors will react to something. Though I suppose it's not that we got anything as much as Luna, Neville, and Ginny got something - which is likely going to be a whole lot more than they can handle.

Well, we knew it was a bit mad to try and steal the sword in the first place. I'd like to say they got what they deserved, but... I can't. No one deserves whatever punishment the Carrows are going to put them through. Maybe it wasn't the best of plans, but I have a feeling the punishment is going to far overshadow the crime. I think I'm starting to miss Professor Dumbledore a whole lot more, now.

At least they're having a hell of a time scrubbing that graffiti off the corridor wall. And I don't think any of the rest of us are under suspicion... though we should watch our backs. I don't want that to change.

And there's still a Hogsmeade trip in a week and a half. It's about time - I think I'm going to go mad if I don't get out of here soon. And I miss t

Hey guys, in case you haven't noticed, we're a little bit behind in terms of scheduling, mostly because real life seems to get in the way of everything fun, and Ali-chan and I have also occupied ourselves rather heavily with our Snogs-canon Albus Severus/Scorpius RP going on at [livejournal.com profile] ass_tea...

but we're going to get back on the ball with Chamber of Snogs.

Anyways, we have a few things that need to be done before the holiday season here in the Snogs universe, so here's the list:

NOVEMBER
- Neville, Luna, and Ginny attempt to steal the Sword of Gryffindor
- Neville, Luna, and Ginny are paraded around to Advanced Dark Arts classes for two days of Cruciatus and Imperius Curse practice
- We get word that Muggle-borns who cannot prove they have magic in their family are being held Azkaban, and this information is passed onto the Order
- Dean Thomas escapes while the school is on a Hogsmeade trip
- Kahvi should join our fold

DECEMBER
- Knowing all the names of the Death Eaters, we plot to make a "Marauder's Map" of all the Death Eaters in Britain
- Luna Lovegood is abducted on her way home for the holidays

JANUARY
- Death Eater map completed
- Dementors are introduced into the school to keep the peace

That's about all I can think of for now.

Caught!

I knew it, I knew it.

It's no use saying 'I told you so' because I think Neville, Luna, and Ginny just got caught stealing the Sword of Gryffindor from Snape's office. Professor Slughorn just informed us a few moments ago and now everybody in Slytherin is talking about it, and so must the rest of the school.

The plan started off so well. Alison and Ginny managed to stow three brooms in a closet on the fifth floor, and Snape was out of his office for the duration of the operation. Alison and I graffiti'd a wall on the second floor next to some classrooms, but something went wrong. I'm not sure what it is, but there was a lot of ruckus kicked up when some of the students found the graffiti, and even though we had all the Carrows, Filch, and Professor Snape in one place, somehow I think they got caught. Snape must have called a meeting in his office or something and caught them along the way.

I hope the Carrows aren't going to kill them. They're all purebloods so they might be tortured, but nothing worse is going to happen...right?

And this sounds terribly selfish right now, but they might let our names slip during the torture process if they haven't already. So everybody be careful. I don't even think my status as an Ambassador's daughter is going to protect me this time, if our names are dropped.

Something...odd...happened in the infirmary today.

I went there immedately after dinner. It seems like there's at least one student in the infirmary now at any given time. Today it was a Second-Year Hufflepuff who'd been knocked against a wall practicing hexes in Professor Carrow's class. She had a nasty bruise on her shoulder, but at least that was easily Healed. As she was leaving, she bumped into someone coming inside, and she screamed so loudly that I thought she'd seen a troll or something. But no, it was Professor Snape glaring at her.

"Um, Professor S...Headmaster. Can I help you?"

I hadn't seen him up close since that night in the spare Potions room, but he looked tired, more tense, and...I guess, angrier somehow. And he can look very menacing indeed when he chooses.

"Miss Aldrern. Keeping...busy?"

The way he said the word "busy" made me very sure that he was talking about something other than school or infirmary work. But I hadn't even had much time to visit the Chamber of Snog these past few weeks, and nor heard about what Neville was planning until--

Syrien had once told me that if there was to be a fourth Unforgivable Curse, it would be invading another peron's mind. I was so shocked to feel Professor Snape's mind pushing into mine that I immediately shoved back, and...I don't know what happened, but I saw Headmaster Dumbledore's face for a moment, looking tired and sad and stern, all at the same time--then Professor Snape's face again, with a rather odd expression on it.

"How dare you--" that was Madam Pomfrey, and I had never heard her speaking like that to anyone-- "hurt a student here?!"

"Oh no, I'm..." I hadn't realized that I was half-leaning against the wall behind me. "...not hurt."

I blinked up at Professor Snape, who had straightened and pulled something out of his pocket. He held it towards Madam Pomfrey.

"Calming Potion. I had heard that you're running short."

"However short I am, I don't need that from you," Madam Pomfrey retorted, and turned her back on him.

Professor Snape's mouth tightened, but he only set the potion on a nearby table and walked out. "Thank you," I said to his back, but I don't think he heard.

It seems like everything is so confusing now, and everything turned upside down. Madam Pomfrey can be stern sometimes, especially if a hurt student is involved, but I had never heard her deliberately say hurtful things to someone. And Professor Snape--I still can't believe he tried to read my mind, but he brought us Calming Potion even though the Extendable Ear in his office says that he always works long into the night.

What does it mean?
[identity profile] beater-serpens.livejournal.com
I just ran into Ginny on the Quidditch Pitch. She passed me a note saying that she, Neville, and maybe one or two other members of the DA are going to try to sneak into Snape's office and steal the sword of Gryffindor. She said she wants me to know as more of a backup than anything - if anything happens to them, at least someone will know what happened.

It doesn't sit right with me to just let them go in blind - not when we essentially have the headmaster's office bugged and we can tell when he's usually there or not. I think we should offer to help if we can. What do you think? I'm good at playing lookout.
[identity profile] prime-veridian.livejournal.com
I wonder if there's a polite way to inform Neville that while we all appreciate him growing a backbone, Muggle Studies is not the place to run out and give it a spin. Muggle Carrow almost turned purple today, I swear, and I don't want to see Neville on the wrong end of any of the Unforgivables.
[identity profile] beater-serpens.livejournal.com
Well, this Quidditch season is shaping up to be... interesting. Hopefully in a good way, though I'm still a bit nervous - the first game of the season is against Gryffindor next month, and while our team is decent, everyone's minds have been elsewhere lately, it seems. I suppose I can't really blame anyone, but it's definitely making organizing practice harder. I can only hope the Gryffindors are having the same problems. But that's not something I can count on. I wonder if I can ask Professor Slughorn to reserve the pitch for us for longer on the weekends, so we can get some extra practice in. I'll have to ask him first thing tomorrow.

I got a very lovely letter last week, from a certain pair of twins. The ink was so bright pink I nearly needed sunglasses to read it. That certainly made my day. I suppose it must be the new shade for their Wonder Witch products. Which they seem to like sending to me, for a laugh. Though some of them are quite useful - I have to say, I've always been a big fan of the Daydream Charms. They get me through Muggle Studies some days. Would anyone like one or two? They sent me a couple of generic ones I wouldn't mind sharing.

If any of you saw Pansy run crying from the Great Hall during breakfast this morning, that was a wonderful substance called Hive Pepper.

Well, that was a nice trip to Hogsmeade. It's refreshing to be able to get out of school for once and see what it's like out there, but sadly it's not going too well in Hogsmeade either. It was very quiet and subdued when we went after class to pick up Professor Slughorn's parcels, doesn't seem like the people in Hogsmeade are gathering much anymore. Fred and George even treated Alison and me to some butterbeers at The Three Broomsticks, but it was a lot emptier there than I remember. Maybe that's just to be expected, because we usually only go there on school trips when it's crowded to capacity, but it really was different, and I don't think it was the lack of Hogwarts students that accounted for it.

Hopefully by now the Order will know that the Minister of Magic is under the Imperius Curse by some Death Eater named Yaxley. From the list that got passed onto me, it seems that several of the higher ups in the Ministry are either Death Eater sympathizers themselves or under the curse as well, which really worries me about how deep You-Know-Who's corruption runs.

At any rate, I hope we use up those potions ingredients fast, because there's always information the Order could use, and well...you can tell that Alison really misses Fred and George, and they miss her a lot too.
