Dark Arts practice

I think this is the worst day of classes I've ever had to sit through. Seeing Neville, Luna, and Ginny paraded through Dark Arts class in the condition they're in is by far the worst thing I have ever had to endure so far this year, and that includes all of Muggle Carrow's screeching.

It's nice to know that almost all the class failed to cast both the Cruciatus and Imperius curses successfully, but it's not good news that those who do manage it competently are the cruelest Slytherins that I absolutely hate. Ugh. (I guess it's not good news either that Draco makes both those spells look easy.)

Alison and I also failed at both the curses today, and I have to say that's the first time I've not been able to cast a spell and been thankful for it. Carrow says that we have until tomorrow to do it well or he'll drop us down a mark. I wonder if it's possible to cast a spell while speaking the incantation of another, because that's the only solution I can think of to keep my marks up while not hurting my friends.

I wonder if it's possible too - I don't want my marks to suffer, but there's no way I'm going to be able to cast a convincing Cruciatus by tomorrow. Nor would I want to, ugh. Do you think we could practice in the Chamber a bit tonight?

I don't think I'll ever be able to cast a Cruciatus curse. At least, not on other students! We'll have to do some practice in the Chamber tonight if we're even thinking of passing this class.

I suppose if you got me mad enough, I might be able to manage it on a Death Eater. But definitely not on other students. Especially not when we're on their side. We should definitely see what we can come up with tonight, if we're going to try to fool the professor.

We need to come up with a spell that looks enough like the Cruciatus to fool the Dark Arts Carrow. Nothing comes to mind immediately, unfortunately.

[OOC: Do they ever mention the color of the Cruciatus curse? I want to say it's red, but I can't back that up with a reference.]

Hm. I bet Lysienne might have an idea. I'll bring a spellbook, too, and we can see if anything looks decent.

We should also stop off at the library and see if there's anything helpful in there (though somehow I doubt it). If worst comes to worst, I suppose dropping a mark in Dark Arts is a small matter when it comes to choosing between that and casting an Unforgivable on a friend.

That's a good idea too. And yeah, I'd rather drop a mark than learn to cast an Unforgivable. Besides, we wouldn't be the only ones with lowered grades, by the look of it.
