Hello everybody, welcome to The Chamber of Snogs. This is an infopost about the players, some guidelines for style, and Chamber of Snogs canon.

THE SNOG DIARIES
All the Chamber of Snogs girls have journals which have been specially charmed. Words written on one journal will be reflected in all the journals, making them essential tools of communication for all the girls. As such, all entries in the diaries, though often personal thoughts, are addressed to everyone, and conversations in response to journal entries has frequently occurred. These journals have minor charms to protect them from the prying eyes of others. While they will keep out fellow students nosing around, they are unlikely the hold up against the scrutiny of seasoned Wizards and Witches, and therefore the girls are discouraged, except in times of emergency, to write down sensitive information.



STYLE
Always post with your character's journal, even [MOD] and [OOC] posts.

All first-person journal entries (such as in the old Chamber of Snogs) should be posted to the main community. If you prefer to post personal entries on your character journal, please also crosspost (with either a link or a fake LJ-cut) to the main community. This is done to facilitate the ease of cross-referencing, searching, and archiving of all events that go on in this RP. Personal journal entries do not need to be specially labeled. Please tag your entry with the name of your character and use an LJ-cut if the text is sufficiently long. Other characters should free to carry on in-character responses or conversations in the comments.

All third-person prose entries should be labeled as [LOG] in the subject header. All [LOG] entries should also be prefaced with the information: Who, Where, When, and What in the body of the text before an LJ-cut. Please tag all log entries as "log." Other characters should feel free to continue the log in the comments. Also, feel welcome to post "flashback" logs from events in past years.

All moderator posts about events happening or about to happen in the near future will be labeled [MOD] and all out-of-character discussions will be labeled [OOC] and tagged accordingly.

The roleplay is roughly real time. We understand that real life is the most important thing, and we can't always be in front of a computer with internet access. Carrying on a conversation a day, a week, or even a month later is cool. Logs that are retroactive are fine as long as the "when" information given is fairly clear.



CHAMBER OF SNOGS CANON
The Chamber of Snogs itself was discovered by Ora and Alison, who when wandering the Hogwarts corridors, saw a strange painting of two young boys snogging. Further conversation revealed that the boys were named Gilbert and Serge, and that they were guarding a small chamber, which Ora and Alison dubbed the Chamber of Snogs, in honor of the two boys.

Since then it has become cozily decorated, resembling a smaller version of a House Common Room, and has become the home and meeting place of all of Ora and Alison's friends from all houses.

Since it's been some years since our last iteration of The Chamber of Snogs, the following things have occurred to our group:

- we were all members of Dumbledore's Army. We did not participate in the raid of the Department of Mysteries (OotP), but did see battle when the Death Eaters invaded Hogwarts at the end of 6th year (HBP).

- we can all cast the Patronus charm, and have learned all the spells Harry taught us in the DA.

- we are not members of the Order of the Phoenix, but are aware of its existence and a few of its members.

- we know that Snape was a member of the Order of the Phoenix, and that Harry claims he killed Dumbledore.

- we believe the Chamber of Snogs room is still undiscovered. Since many people are aware of the Room of Requirement, its use for secret activities is discouraged. We will find out later, that Gilbert and Serge are capable of traveling into almost all of the paintings in Hogwarts undetected, including the ones in the Headmaster's study.
